They entered Unit 33 together. The little, dim room was filled with piles of worn-out, dusty boxes that were sealed shut and had no labels. Adam started to open the packages. He discovered vintage toys and childhood mementos among them. The idea that his father had held onto these items for such a long time made him grin. Boxes of recollections held more than just memories, though.

A Hidden Door
Adam noticed a tiny door leading to an even smaller room when he turned to face the back of the unit. Standard apartments typically lacked this feature, so the manager was taken aback. This addition must have been constructed by Adam’s father. It had been a long day, but the door was locked. Adam just kicked in the door with the manager at his heels, without even trying to find any more keys or diaries.
