A Motherly Instinct
Lily watched as the small creatures wriggled under the warmth of the blankets. Their eyes remained half-closed, and she assumed they were too weak from the cold. “Poor things,” she thought, “They need food and warmth.” Quickly, she ran downstairs to grab some milk, knowing that puppies drink from their mothers but hoping a bowl of warm milk would help. She watched as the little creatures sniffed at it, slowly lapping up the liquid.

A Growing Bond
As the days passed, Lily devoted herself to caring for the “puppies.” She named each one—Snowflake, Blizzard, Frost, and Flurry. She kept them a secret from her parents, sneaking food and blankets up to her room. The little animals were growing more active and playful, and Lily found herself falling in love with them. They began following her around her room, their tiny paws pattering on the wooden floor as they played and tumbled.
