The Qumran Caves
How did they get there? In the 1940s, the scrolls were discovered in an alcove of the Qumran Caves in the Judean Desert. It was subjected to a chemical study, which enabled experts to discover that the parchment and papyrus scrolls were created between 150 B.C. and 70 A.D.
