Tracing The Shroud’s History
The Catholic Church ultimately granted permission to examine the shroud in the 1980s. Scientists tested the cloth using radiocarbon dating equipment and determined that it was created between 1260 and 1390. The suggestion is that this is a forgery. Of course, this did not sit well with some folks.
