A Change Of Heart
When Tom was working on the film “The Color of Money” in 1986, he met a man who transformed his life. Paul Newman, his co-star, was that man. The politically active Newman and the ignorant Cruise had numerous political discussions. This, in turn, influenced Tom’s views on some issues, as well as the types of films he chose to star in. In 1989, Cruise appeared in “Born on the Fourth of July” a film with a strong anti-war message.
A Risk That Paid Off
Those who follow Cruise’s career are aware that he received approximately $75 million for his performance in “Mission: Impossible II” in 2000. What few people realize is that he took a significant risk in order to make those millions. He opted to decline any form of advance pay. Instead, he requested a 30% cut of the film’s gross income. According to popular belief, the larger the risk, the higher the pay.
