Camden’s family couldn’t believe what they were hearing. Nancy had never offered to help them before, and they were surprised by her generosity. As a matter of fact, few people would be willing to donate one of their kidneys to someone else, much less to someone they didn’t know very well. As the date for the procedure approached, Nancy’s family paid her a visit at her place of employment, bearing flowers as a token of their appreciation for her generous deed. As it turns out, Darreld’s extended family and friends had already been subjected to genetic testing to see whether or not they were compatible with Darreld. Unfortunately, none of them were. Darreld was about to lose faith when Nancy came up with her offer.

The Time Has Come
After hearing about Nancy’s incredible story, the local news media reacted positively, expressing their appreciation for her and her decision to do what she did. Nancy said her final goodbyes to relatives and friends on the day of her kidney removal before going to the hospital with her husband and son. Darreld said that he was having second thoughts about the entire situation. He was well aware that Nancy would be undergoing a critical operation, and he was concerned that something might go wrong during the procedure. Although he was well aware that she was resolved to go through with it, he also realized that there was nothing he could say to convince her otherwise.
