Nucky’s girlfriend Paz De La Huerta was a big star in the HBO series Boardwalk Empire, and she was expected to continue her success. After researching her for an article for New York Magazine, which was published before the premiere of Boardwalk Empire, they came upon a story about her that involves public obscenity in a sauna surrounded by other highly angry guests. She rapidly earned the reputation of being a party girl, something TMZ didn’t take lightly since the opportunity to call attention to celebrity blunders is one that they don’t pass up. Her unpredictable behavior carried over to the set of Boardwalk Empire, ultimately resulting in her dismissal from the show in 2011.

Comedians frequently walk a fine line between what is appropriate to jest about and what is not. Many of these shows feature hecklers in the audience who are waiting to inform the comedian when they have officially crossed the line. After becoming embroiled in an on-stage argument with one of his hecklers, Michael Richards, the star of the Seinfeld sitcom, made a split-second decision that effectively ended his career. In response to the man’s comments, Richards screamed at him and demanded that the African-American customer be removed from the club, using racial obscenities throughout. Following an audible gasp from the audience, he abruptly exited the stage before completing his routine. Even his public apology on Letterman wasn’t enough to preserve his career from the negative publicity surrounding it.
