3. The Temple of the Rats, Deshnoke, India
The 2000 black rats that are respected and well-cared for at the Karni Mata Temple bring pilgrims and curious tourists from all over the world. The eating of food that the kabbas, or holy rats, have nibbled on is regarded as a high honor. These rats live quietly in the temple. If a rat is killed, a solid silver rat must be used in its place.
